POETRY BY PHRIEDA BOGERE

TRIGGER WARNING: ALLUSIONS TO SELF HARM

Slow Death

i’ve exercised patience,
screamed in cars
with no listening.
heart beating fast
while my eyes water,
and losing it after
i play the same song.
life keeps pushing me
towards the edge.

i’ve tried to be
nice about it,
i numb myself so
i won’t notice how
bad this really is.
creating new scars,
crying until i can’t breathe,
calling out to pain,
again and again.
what’s left inside isn’t good.
Phrieda Bogere has written poetry for years before making the decision to share her work with a wider audience. Her poems have been featured in Brave Voices Magazine, Writing In A Woman's Voice, and The Beautiful Space. When she isn't writing, she loves exercising, getting lost in a good book, and binge watching Netflix on the weekends.
