VULNERARY
adjective - of use in the healing of wounds
noun - a medicine used in the healing of wounds
vulnerary magazine was launched in spring 2021 and started with weekly poetry and art features, then evolved into 4 seasonal issues a year. i hope to at some point also release tangible things like anthologies, zines, and perhaps someday even chapbooks.
with the switch to issues, i am continuing the practice of announcing contributors publicly prior to publication / an issue going live, if need be giving someone the time to reach out to me if any contributor for any reason should not be platformed. i take the safety and peace of my contributors, their readers, and this community very seriously. all work published here remains the intellectual property of the poet / artist and is also protected under the creative commons license stated on our homepage.
i started vulnerary magazine to showcase the work of friends and poets i admire for writing bloody and raw. here, it doesn't matter what degrees you have, how many pieces or books you've had published, or what residencies you've attended - what matters is the extremely visceral and cathartic nature of your work. it is my belief that being open and honest about the ugly and awful helps everyone feel less alone - maybe even understood, if you're lucky. that is the only goal here. a stitch and a salve for your wounds. does it feel more like a blade to the spine, than a poem? perfect. i'd love to read it.
