SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED UNTIL 2023.
TO SUBMIT: email 1-3 poems (of any length, but please assume i do not have the time or mental alacrity to read an entire epic poem) or up to 6 pieces of art (any medium) that fit the issue's theme to vulneraries@gmail.com in doc/pdf or plain image (please no zip files or dropboxes) format. please include your name, best way to reach you, and any social media you'd like to promote but no cover letters or bios, let your work speak for itself. trigger warnings aren't inherently necessary, but are appreciated if the work is of a more graphic nature. if it cries loud enough for this publication, i will publish it. if not, i will suggest other presses and magazines to potentially better place your work with. for vulnerary magazine, i want your wretched. i want what aches and pains you, i want jagged scars. i do not want your gross "taboo" abusive fantasy shit. i don't mind simultaneous submissions, but please let me know if your work is accepted elsewhere first. submissions are currently free and will likely remain that way. we don't pay, but we don't profit in any way either. YOU WILL ALWAYS RETAIN ALL RIGHTS TO YOUR WORK.
NOTE: please don't be afraid to reach out if you require special concessions regarding your submissions due to cognitive issues, disabilities, etc - that is NEVER a problem for me, nor should it be for any worthwhile press in my opinion. if you need something, just let me know!
IF YOU ARE OUTED FOR ABUSE / MISCONDUCT AFTER BEING PUBLISHED HERE: the editor-in-chief has a super strict zero tolerance policy for abuse / misconduct in her personal life, and this publication will be the same. if it is brought to my attention that you are an abuser or predator within the lit community or just in general, your work will be removed immediately and you will be permanently banned from submitting work or having work featured. if you submit work to me that is disgusting and depraved, you will also be permanently banned. i will always announce a contributor list well in advance of publication to the twitter and instagram feeds so that anyone who feels a need to reach out to me regarding a certain contributor / why they should not be platformed has time to do so.
IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE REJECTION: if your work is rejected, i will try my best to match you up with other presses and magazines that may be better suited for it - granted it is suitable for publishing. if this displeases you to the point of feeling like you need to argue or harass me, you will not get a response. however. once a month, i will post screenshots - with your name visible - of your communication(s) to the magazine's twitter feed under a thread called "fine, now you're published" because tantrums are funny to me. this is your full disclosure and only warning.
